Christians have no role unless in partnership with Muslims

The Lebanese Foundation for Permanent Civil Peace organized a seminar at Portemilio hotel in Kaslik under the title of "Officials and citizens find solutions together: Let's communicate and solve it." The seminar was attended by Labour Minister, Sejaan Azzi, who called for extended decentralization and activation of the union of municipalities.

The seminar was also attended by a crowd of politicians, representatives of the civil society, and the international relief organization among others.

"Citizens have lost their trust in politicians and resorted to the institutions of the civil society. But these institutions must play their role with integrity and impartiality away from political alleyways."

Azzi declared that Christians of Lebanon knew what they wanted, "to build a state...where they can live together in genuine inter-Christians partnership, then in partnership with Muslims." He dubbed this a "national, spiritual and humanitarian choice" as well as a "geographical and historic destiny."

"Christians of Lebanon, particularly Maronites, have no role unless in partnership with our Muslim brethren, Sunni, Shiite and Druze, who sensed following the war the need to build a state," said Azzi, adding that the only dispute that remained was over the form and regime of that state.
