Workshop on Metrology System in Lebanon

On Wednesday 29th of November 2017 a workshop took place at the conference room at the ministry of Economy and Trade in Beirut under the title “Metrology System in Lebanon”.

The general aim of the workshop was to discuss the present law on the Metrology System in Lebanon and the decrees related to it.

The workshop was organized by the Lebanese Foundation for Permanent Civil peace, and in collaboration with the Directorate General of the ministry of Economy and Trade.

The workshop included four sessions; the first session was the opening session where a number of speakers had opening words who are; Dr. Antoine Massara - President of the Lebanese Foundation for Permanent Civil Peace, MP Yassin Jaber - Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on follow up of the implementation of Laws, Dr. Fares el Zein, Baladi CAP- Chief of Party, H.E Mrs. Alia Abbas, General Director of the Economy and Trade. This was facilitated by Lawyer Rabih KAYS.

The second session was about: Metrology in the Economy.  Where a number of speakers have contributed to this session who are: Mrs. Lena Dargham – General Director of Libnor; Dr. Imad Hajj Chehade - Technology & Development Director; Dr. Rola bou Khouzam – Researchers at the CNRS; Mrs. Abir Rammal – Researcher at the Ministry of Economy and Trade. This session was presided by H.E. MP Joseph Maalouf.

The third session was about: Metrology System, where a number of speakers have contributed to this session who are: Mr. Tarek Younes – head of the Consumer Protection unit at the ministry of economy and trade, Mr. Antoine Baroud representing the Association of Lebanese Industrialists; Dr. Mary Abboud – Professor at the Saint Joseph University.  This session was presided by H.E. MP Khaled Zahraman. 

The Fourth and last session was allocated for synthesis and recommendation where Dr. Antoine Messara, President of the Lebanese Foundation for Permanent Civil Peace and Mrs. Alia Abbass, General Director of the Ministry of Economy and Trade had concluded some guidelines as a synthesis to this last session.
