Within the framework of Baladi Cap’s Civic Engagement Initiative (CEI), the Lebanese Foundation for Permanent Civil Peace (LFPCP) conducted its first steering committee meeting at July 20, 2017 to introduce the project to their partners and stakeholders, and to agree on general guidelines.
The meeting was spearheaded by Deputy Yassine Jaber MP Chair of the Parliamentary Committee in charge of following up on the implementation of laws, with Dr. Walid Ammar, Director General at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Antoine Romanous Head of Department at the Ministry of Health; Mrs. Alia Abbas Director General at the Ministry of Economy and Trade; the Baladi Cap project team was headed by Dr. Fares El Zein BALADI CAP Chief of Party and CSO Specialist Ms. Nadine Merhi. Meanwhile the LFPCP team in cluded Dr. Antoine Messarra Chair, Rabih Kays Project Director, Maribelle Tarabay Project Coordinator and Selma Ben Ali Intern.
LFPCP has identified three laws to support concerned Ministries in preparing for the implementation of the said laws in an inclusive, transparent, and representative manner. The selected laws are: The Law of Protection of Confidential DNA Information for Lebanese Citizens, Food Safety Law, and The Law of Measurement and Scaling System in Lebanon.
The project “Building a rule of law society: to enhance bases of Democratic Governance and Rule of law” is aimed at advocating for the issuance of government decrees to implement three key laws already passed by Parliament.
